Peter’s Moon Ride

Creating a celestial world full of wonders through children's book illustrations.

A great adventure begins when a little may bug and two children fly to the moon to rescue the beetle's lost sixth leg. Peter's Moon Ride is a fairy tale written for children by Gerdt von Bassewitz in 1912.

The watercolour illustrations tell of the fantastic celestial world and its inhabitants, with a sensitive view on characters and story. Mystical in its colouring, the fairy tale maintains its original magic, while also able to create a friendly space. Characters like the star creatures were imaginatively added so that despite some scary story elements, the children reading the story can keep feeling safe.
